What Makes These Father’s Day Activities Special?
- Combines Family & Favorite’s- These Father’s day activities are a combination of dad’s favorite things and his favorite people.
- Time to Do the Things They Don’t Have Time For- Being a parent is full of sacrifice. While you gain a lot and it is insanely beautiful, you also lose a lot of freedom. Being a parent means you have a whole lot less time to do the things you used to do. So, these activities are meant to let him get back to those possibly long lost favorite activities.
- Many of Them Involve Food- While not every single one does, many of these father’s day activities involve food. Which, as everyone knows, is the way to a man’s heart.
Father's Day Activities
Build a Lego Kit Together

I truly think Legos are the way to just about any man’s heart. So, head to the store all together or grab a Lego kit ahead of time that you can build together as a family. Depending on what you pick, you may even be able to keep it on a shelf somewhere to decorate. We have these Lego roses sitting on our desk at home and they always make us smile.
Get Crafty
Don’t stress over finding time before Father’s Day for your kids to make dad the perfect homemade gift. Who says your kids can’t create a special craft for dad while they spend time with him too! So, set aside time on Father’s Day to craft as a family and make something special for him to keep on his desk or dresser. It will not only remind him how loved he is, but it will also have fun memories attached to it too.
Here are a few Father’s Day crafts to try:
- Make a Handprint T-Shirt
- Dad Rocks Salt Dough Paperweight
- Make DIY Coasters of Your Kids’ Handprints
- Building Memories Lego Mason Jar
Bake Dad’s Favorite Treat

As long as you aren’t in a time crunch (or wearing your favorite clothing), baking with kids is an absolute blast. So, work together to make Dad’s favorite treat and then enjoy it all together when your hard work is done. And of course… don’t forget to give dad first dibs on the beaters and mixing spoons along the way.
Make Him a Keychain
Keys go with you everywhere you go, so a DIY keychain is the perfect way to remind him that he is loved everywhere he goes. These heat shrink sheets come with everything you need to make heat shrink keychains for him from your kid’s own drawings or handprints.
Have Dad’s Favorite Dinner by Candlelight
Whether it be a steak dinner or take out Chinese food, it’s still fun to celebrate with candlelight. Honestly, the not so fancy food with fancy candlelight just makes it all that much more fun.
Take a Hike

If dad is an outdoorsy person, a hike and a picnic is the perfect way to spend Father’s Day. Find somewhere you’ve never hiked before, pack some yummy snacks, and just enjoy some sunshine together.
Have a Family Movie Night
Let dad pick his favorite movie (kid friendly of course), make some popcorn, grab some treats, and enjoy a family movie night together. If you really want to take it to the next level, fire up this mini projector in your backyard onto your siding or a simple white bed sheet.
Take a Family Trip to His Favorite Store
Fatherhood often doesn’t leave dads with a ton of time to wander the aisles of their favorite stores. So, head over to his favorite sports store (or whatever it may be) as a family and let dad explore a bit.
Bring Him Breakfast in Bed

This was my breakfast in bed on Mother’s Day so I have a lot to live up to!
Breakfast in bed is a classic for a reason. It’s awesome. It’s already special to start and if you throw in a cute kid bringing you your breakfast, it’s even better! Plus, coffee is always the best way to start the day.
Picnic at the Playground
I know park days are some of my husband’s favorites since he is usually at work and can’t tag along. So, if you have little kids and are looking for simple things to do on Father’s Day, the playground could be the perfect spot to spend the day. Just don’t forget to grab some ice cream afterwards to cool off.
Have a Family Game Night
If dad is a big game lover, a family game night a simple way to make Father’s Day enjoyable and memorable. While this is a bit trickier to do if you have little ones, here are a few fun toddler games you could try.
Give Him a New Grill Platter (And Then Use It!)
If you are wondering what to do on Father’s Day, er on the side of food. If dad loves to grill, a new grill platter handmade by the kids followed by a day of grilling his favorite meat might just be his dream come true.
Go to An Arcade
An arcade is the perfect place to spend Father’s Day. Let him be a kid again with his kids!
Take a Trip Down Memory Lane
Print a few pictures of him and the kids to put in some new frames or create a cute scrapbook together. Then add these to his dresser, bedroom, office, or man cave.
