Monster Truck Party Ideas
Monster Truck Party Decorations
If you decide to have a themed party, the main thing you’ll need to determine is how to decorate. Decorations make or break a themed party. But that doesn’t mean you have to spend a fortune on them either!
Road Tablecloth W/ Monster Trucks

These road tablecloths were the perfect place to show off our sons massive collection of monster trucks as decor for his party. We just grabbed a couple of helium balloons from Dollar Tree and tied one to each monster truck for a put together look that costs under $15.
Monster Truck Photo Booth

All you need to make this monster truck photo booth is a big cardboard box, a utility knife to cut it out, paint of some sort, and tape or glue to put it all together. I chose to use red spray paint for the monster truck body and black craft paint on the wheels so I could give them more texture.
Not only does it look amazing as an added decoration at your party, but it’s also a special place for them to take photos with friends and family. And since the monster truck photo booth makes photos a whole lot more fun, it makes getting a good photo SO MUCH EASIER!
Monster Truck Sign

I literally made our monster truck sign from a 50 cent posterboard, some markers I had, and my kids’ crayons. You don’t need anything fancy to make a fun sign for above their chair for the party. I also love making these signs for my kids to keep in their rooms, since their birthday theme is usually their favorite things.
We decided to go with “Watch Out! I’m Kicking It Into Fourth Gear,” since my son was turning four but here are a few other ideas for other ages.
2- “Growing Up 2 Fast!” or “Ready 2 Go!” or “El Toddler Loco”
3- “Dirty 3rdy” or “Shifting Into 3rd Gear!” or “El Toddler Loco”
4- “Watch Out! I’m Kicking It Into Fourth Gear!”
5- “ Shift Into Gear, {their name} is Turning 5 This Year!”
Monster Truck Food Ideas
El Toro Fruit Tray

When my son asked to get the “orange monster truck with the bananas on its head,” for Christmas I knew his monster truck party had to involve an El Toro fruit tray. We used cantaloupe for the truck frame, small glass bowls of grapes for the wheels, and of course banana horns.
Monster Jam Cake

This honestly might just be the easiest birthday cake I’ve ever made for my kids. I actually Here is everything you need to make it and exactly how I made our Monster Jam cake!
Ingredients:
- 2 chocolate cake mixes
- Chocolate frosting (homemade or store bought)
- Mini chocolate frosted donuts
- About 10 Kit Kats (depends on how high you make the back bleachers)
- Small bag of sour patch kids
- About 10 Oreos
- A small monster truck for the ramp
- Toy cars, buses, or hoops for between the ramps
How to Make This Monster Jam Cake:
- Start by making 2 chocolate cakes, in 13 x 9 pans and whipping up some chocolate frosting.
- Take out both cakes and let them cool.
- Place one of the cakes onto a serving tray and frost with the chocolate frosting. Make sure to frost it a little bit messy so it looks more like dirt.
- Frost the edges if you haven’t already and then place the chocolate frosted donuts around the border to look like tires. You can also add stacks of them on your display if you’d like.
- Decide what ramps you want on your cake and cut them out of the 2nd cake. (the one not on the serving tray)
- Place your ramps onto the cake where you want them and then frost them with the chocolate frosting.
- Add toy cars, buses, or a fun hoop in between the two ramps and a monster truck to one of the ramps.
- Break apart the kit kats and then start building the stands with rows of Kit Kats, adding one additional kit kat on top for each row back you go. You’ll want to use chocolate frosting to assure they don’t fall off.
- Add sour patch kids in front of the Kit Kats to make it look like the crowd is standing up and cheering!
- Take the cream out of 5-10 of the Oreo cookies and crush up the cookies in a Ziploc bag.
- Spread the cookie crumbs around the cake evenly or use them to “draw” the number of how old your child is turning.
Monster Truck Activities
Monster Truck Bowling

If you buy a lot of soda, monster truck bowling can be as simple as a few soda bottles and a few larger monster trucks. We decided to make ours using the Melissa & Doug bowling set in combination with a few friction powered monster trucks and it was an absolute blast! You can also use remote control monster trucks or any larger monster trucks you have at home as well!
DIY monster Truck Arena

After searching forever to find a monster truck arena that was big enough, had good ramps, and didn’t cost a fortune, I decided to make my own using an old sandbox. It makes the perfect activity for the kids at the party and it’s a fun toy to keep at home too! Here is a step by step guide on how to make your own!
Pin the Wheel on the Monster Truck
While I typically am all about making everything for my kids parties myself, this game of pin the wheel on the monster truck is under $10 and a worth every penny. It’s fun for both the kids and adults to join in on too.
Monster Truck Party Favors
While party favors definitely aren’t a necessity, especially if you are wanting to do a birthday party on a budget, the good news is that monster truck party favors are insanely simple. It can literally be as simple as dollar store monster trucks.
But if you want to add to them a bit, you can also include small bubble containers and put “fuel” labels on them. Or put each monster truck in a bag or container with a bit of kinetic sand.
A Few More Ideas...
- Paintable Wood Monster Trucks– Not only does a craft serve as a party favor but it also is another fun activity to have set up at your party!
- Tire Cups– These straw tire cups are super fun to go along with the monster truck theme and can be sent home as a fun party favor too.
- Monster Truck Bubble Wands– Because you can never go wrong with bubbles.
This post was all about quick, simple, and inexpensive monster truck party ideas that your child and your guests will absolutely love. I hope these ideas help you create a magical day!
