Bath Time Must-Haves!
The quickest way to make bath time feel like less of a chore is to have the right supplies! These four things have made bath time a place where I can enjoy playing with my kids rather than fighting with them to stop splashing or let me rinse out their hair.
Tub Topper
My tub topper was worth every stinking penny. I love not having to constantly nag at my kids to stop splashing and the tub topper gives them tons of extra space to play.
Bath Rinser
My first two kids absolutely hated getting water in their eyes when I washed their hair. Every single bath ended with a screaming crying fit over rinsing their hair and both of us exhausted. So, finding this bath rinser was a total game changer. It has a soft silicone piece on it that presses on their forehead to create a seal and make sure they don’t get water in their eyes. Truly a genius product.
Spout Cover
While a spout cover isn’t a need, it can add some peace of mind if your kids are little. It’s a whole lot easier to sit back and let your kids play in the bath if you’re not worried about one of them slamming their head on the faucet. It’s especially nice if you will have multiple kids in the bath at once.
Bath Toy Organizer
I truly get so happy every time I look at our bath toys all organized on the wall. I badly wish I would have bought this bath toy organizer sooner! There’s no longer bath toys all over my bathroom floor constantly and it’s super easy to clean too. Anytime you run your bath toys in the dishwasher, just pop in this organizer too!
Fun Bath Tub Activities for Toddlers
1. Let them do some cooking
Make some tub soup with these adorable floating foam veggies and pot or just add a few kitchen items you already own. Colanders, ladles, pots, pans, tongs, spoons, etc. are all extra fun in the bath.
2. Have a monster truck rally
There’s never a bad place or time to hold a monster truck rally if you have toddler boys. Just about every monster truck we own ends up in the bath on occasion along with ramps as well. But if you want to make things even more fun, try these color changing monster trucks!
3. Make a Duplo Bath
When one of my toddlers managed to spill my entire coffee in their bin of Duplos, all the Duplos went in the tub for cleaning. Then when the kids asked to jump in too, I figured, “sure, why not?” They ended up with a bath time full of Duplos, and smiles so big it made me smile too.
4. Water gun shooting range
When I caught my toddler using one of his water guns in the bath to try and shoot down a glob of hair I left on the wall (a toxic trait of mine), I knew we had to come up with a new target.
You can easily make your own targets on the bath tub walls using these bees wax bath crayons!
5. Have fun colored water
I have so many fun memories as a kid playing in a brightly colored bath tub, squirting bright pink water out of my bath toys. These Honey Sticks color tablets are great because they bring back the memories but aren’t filled with all the nasty chemicals.
6. Turn your bath into an ice cream shop
This one is one of the best bathtub activities for toddlers! Bubbles will always make bath time better! No matter how old you get! Add this Puracy bubble bath with fruit and vegetable extracts alongside this bubble ice cream maker and your kids will never want to get out of their bath.
7. Go swimming with the fishes
Grab a few of these Robo Alive fish and throw them in the bath with your kiddos to completely blow their minds.
8. Take a bath in the dark
Before I started looking for ways to make bath time more fun, I had no idea bath tub lights even existed! But this bath tub light is an easy, inexpensive way to make bath time fun for everyone! It even has a remote that kids can pick the color on!
9. Whip up some bubbles
If your kids want more bubbles, let them whip them up with these little bubble whisks! They are great for fine motor development and will also help them burn a little energy too!
10. Have a car wash or a dog wash
Gather up all those little toy animals or hot wheels cars you keep stepping on and throw them in the bath for a car wash or “dog” wash bath! Not only will you stop hurting your feet, your kids will have a blast.
11. Let them try snorkeling in the tub
Even though he was terrified to put his head underwater last time, my toddler is now bound and determined to use a snorkel in the pool next year. He decided bath time was his practice time. He’s had a ton of fun and I think he may just pull it off!
12. Have a "pool" party
If you have any leftover pool noodles from the summer, cut them into small rings. They are fun all on their own and they are also the perfect size for Little People to sit in and have a pool party.
13. Make homemade bath tub paint
Just mix a ¼ cup of baby shampoo or wash with ¼ cup of cornstarch and a few drops of food coloring to create the easiest homemade bath tub paint ever. Just thin it with a tablespoon or two and let your kids live out their dreams of painting on the walls.
This post was all about giving you bathtub activities for toddlers that don’t require any prep work and are insanely fun for everyone! These are great to break up the monotony of constant baths in the summer and also to entertain toddlers during the cold of the winter!
